1、 What is a Poe power supply?
Poenjector, also known as mid span device, power injector or Poe adapter, mainly connects non Poe switches and Poe power receiving devices (PDS) through network cables. This equipment is generally applicable to the places where low-power terminal equipment needs to be installed but lack of power supply from power sockets. 2、 Advantages of Poe power supply
The advantages of Poe power supply are mainly reflected in the following aspects:
Easy to install: just connect the power supply with POE terminal equipment and switch to provide power and data transmission support.
Easy to expand: the power signal can be injected into the data signal output by the non Poe switch through the network cable, so as to provide power and data transmission support for the power receiving equipment at the same time, and bring convenience to the equipment connection.
Cost saving: the use of Poe power supply can preserve the original network architecture on the basis of effective use of the original equipment, so as to save costs.
Market demand has prompted the development of Poe power supply market. Various Poe power supplies have emerged in endlessly. The emergence of 15W, 30W, 60W and 90W Poe power supplies in line with ieee802.3af/at/bt standards has brought convenience to terminal equipment networking and power supply, and also helped users save the cost of purchasing new Poe switches。
So, in the face of a wide variety of products, how to choose the appropriate Poe power supply?
3、 Selection of Poe power supply
1. Select the appropriate number of ports
Poe power supplies are available in single port, dual port, 4, 8, 12, 16 and other models. If there is only one power receiving device, the single port Poe power supply shall be selected. If there are multiple Poe terminal devices, multi port Poe power supply can be considered, and ensure that the number of ports of Poe power supply matches it.
If it is necessary to select a multi port Poe power supply, it is best to reserve 1-2 ports according to the actual situation as emergency standby in the future.
2. Select standard Poe power supply
It is necessary to ensure that the operating voltage of the power supply and the connected power receiving equipment is consistent. Generally, the power supply voltage of 802.3af/at or 802.3bt standard is 44-57v (DC), and the voltage of non-standard Poe equipment is generally 18-48v (DC). If the voltage values of the two equipment connected to each other do not match, the equipment may be damaged.
Under the POE industry standards of 802.3af, 802.3at or 802.3bt, Poe power supply equipment (PSE) and power receiving equipment will automatically negotiate when connected. The negotiation can be successful only when the devices at both ends comply with the standard mode. After successful negotiation between the devices at both ends, the power supply equipment will supply power to the powered equipment, and the safety of Poe equipment can be guaranteed.
Therefore, standard Poe power supply and Poe terminal equipment shall be selected. In general, the 802.3bt standard can be downward compatible with 802.3af/at compliant devices.

3. The output power of the power supply is greater than the rated total power of the power receiving equipment
The power of PD equipment (POE terminal equipment, such as camera, etc.) is high and low. When selecting the matching PSE (power supply equipment), the POE power supply with output power greater than the PD rated power of the power receiving equipment shall be selected. If the multi port Poe power supply is selected, the total rated power of all powered equipment shall be less than the actual total output power of the POE power supply to avoid overload.
